Alberta Parks has issued a warning at a campground in Kananaskis Country after a family of grizzly bears ripped a tent out of the ground. The warning came from the provincial agency on Thursday after the family of bears poked around the tent at Lower Lake Campground. The agency says bear spray was used. The notice comes a day after a similar warning after a bear approached a hiker and their dog in the area around Mount Engadine Lodge, Mount Shark Road and Rummel Lake Trail. Anyone in bear country should know that bears can be encountered at any time, Alberta Parks said. Surprise encounters with bears can be avoided by travelling in groups, making lots of noise, keeping pets on a leash, carrying bear spray and securing food, garbage, pet food and other scented items in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof lockers. All bear sightings and incidents should be reported to 403-591-7755.
