Woman swerves out of lane, crashes into SUV and killed east of Quebec City: police

A woman driver lost her life on Saturday morning after swerving out of her lane and colliding with another car on route 362 in the municipality of Les Éboulements, northeast of Quebec City.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident at around 9 a.m., off chemin de Cap aux Oies,’ said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokeswoman Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

According to preliminary information, the driver of the small car travelling eastbound swerved out of her lane on a slight curve and collided with an SUV travelling in the opposite direction.

The two drivers involved were alone in their vehicles at the time of impact. The jaws of life were needed to extricate them from their cars.

Both were taken to Baie-Saint-Paul hospital with serious injuries. The driver who had swerved out of her lane was in a very critical condition when she was transported, and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The life of the other driver is not in danger.

Route 362 has been closed in both directions at chemin de Cap aux Oies. A diversion is possible via the local network.
