The eight-story Bangladesh building that collapsed Wednesday morning housed a number of textile factories that produced clothing for some major Western brands.

Here is a list of known factories and retailers that had a connection to the Rana Plaza, just outside the city’s capital:

  • Ether Tex factory, which said its customers included Wal-Mart
  • New Wave, a group of companies that lists Benetton, The Children’s Place and Spain’s Mango among its customers
  • Phantom-TAC factory
  • Some of Loblaws Inc.’s Joe Fresh brand garments were made at one of the factories inside the building
  • Britain's Primark clothing retailer also had some of its clothes made at the Rana Plaza
