The Neepawa town council declines option to extend Sunday shopping hours

The Neepawa town council will not allow Sunday shopping before noon as the option did not receive enough votes. Council was deadlocked earlier this week settling on a bylaw to extend Sunday shopping hours. However, a tie meant the plan was defeated.

The province recently changed the law by giving cities and towns the option to let businesses open from nine to six on Sunday.

Aside from Neepawa, other municipalities appear to be extending their hours before noon.

Morden says the new hours will help them invite more shoppers from neighbouring communities that don't allow Sunday shopping at all.
