Mark Stobbe out on bail, hearing postponed

Beverley Rowbotham was killed October 24, 2000 in St. Andrews.

Lawyers have put off setting a preliminary hearing for a former top political aide in Saskatchewan accused of murdering his wife.

In a brief appearance before a Winnipeg judge Thursday, lawyers agreed to return to court Nov. 4.

Mark Stobbe, who once served as a senior adviser to former Saskatchewan premier Roy Romanow, has been out on $50,000 bail.

The 50-year-old was arrested earlier this year, and has not yet entered a plea to the charge of second-degree murder.

He did not appear in court Thursday.

Stobbe is accused of killing his wife, Beverley Rowbotham, who was found dead in her car in a parking lot near Selkirk, Man., in October 2000.

The family had moved to this province five months earlier after Stobbe accepted a job with a provincial economic development committee.
