Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Seasonal temperatures return

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for April 8, 2025.

After a chilly few days by early April standards, more seasonal temperatures return Tuesday across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

In the southeast, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Morden, and Winkler are all forecast to reach 10 C this afternoon.

Winnipeg should climb to 8 C, the normal daytime high for the city for this time of year.

With a cloudy start to the day this morning, most southeastern areas should see at least some sunshine this afternoon.

Temperatures in the southwest won’t rise as high Tuesday, but still well above freezing—a big improvement from colder, sub-zero temperatures as of late.

Brandon is forecast to reach 4 C as clouds build, while the sun will shine on Dauphin on the way to a high of 5 C.

Most of northern Manitoba will also climb above freezing in the sunshine or under a mix of sun and cloud Tuesday.

Conditions are cooler in the northeast around Churchill and Gillam.

Meanwhile, a low over Alberta Tuesday could spread precipitation Tuesday night over southern Manitoba—a potentially slippery mix of rain showers, freezing rain, flurries, and even ice pellets.

This mixed precipitation isn’t a certainty, but it could move into Brandon this evening, before spreading to Winnipeg overnight.

With temperatures dropping to around freezing, there is the potential for slippery roads and highways overnight into the Wednesday morning commute.

By Thursday, daytime highs shoot up into the double digits, peaking Saturday with a forecast high for Winnipeg of 17 C.
