A City of Winnipeg worker has turned himself in for his involvement in a hit-and-run that sent a woman to hospital last month.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the collision, which involved a pedestrian, took place on March 15 at Osborne Street and Mulvey Avenue.

The suspect drove away from the scene before police arrived.

Officers investigated and determined the vehicle involved in the collision was a Ford Transit panel van that is registered to the city. Investigators also identified the driver as a City of Winnipeg worker.

On April 2, the driver went to police headquarters and turned himself in. He is facing three charges, including driving carelessly causing life-threatening injury.

The suspect was released from custody on an appearance notice.
