As the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair celebrates its 55th anniversary, thousands will attend the week-long event.
“We’ve been a pinnacle event in Brandon and our surrounding area since 1906, showcasing agriculture and bringing the rural, country agriculture sector to urban families,” said Kristen Laing Breemersch, manager of operations with the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba.
There will be a wide variety of livestock shows, including horses and sheep, nightly live entertainment, food vendors, and more, coming up on March 31.
“We have our royal experiences every day in the main arena from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. that people can get hands-on farm life education, whether they’re riding horses or riding a wagon pulled by mini horses or draft horses,” Breemersch said, “We’re hoping for a great crowd,”
The fair brings a huge economic boom to the Westman region bringing millions of dollars each year and that is vital for many businesses.
“It is huge,” Breemersch said, “We pull from all across Canada for entries and exhibitors, and then we have a spin-off on restaurants, hotels,”
The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair begins with its traditional sunrise breakfast on Monday, March 31, at 7:00 a.m. and tickets are available for the fair on the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba’s website.
