Zekelman calls foreign steel snitch line a ‘success’

The creator of a foreign steel snitch line in Windsor is calling the move a success.

Windsor steel magnate, Barry Zekelman, is calling his campaign to call out foreign steel used in government projects a ‘success’.

The ‘Buy Canadain’ campaign launched last November and gave out $30,000 in rewards for those calling out foreign steel.

The projects flagged included schools, bridges, and hospitals.

The campaign ended in March, but Zekelman said he’s still receiving calls.

“It’s about changing the system and making people aware of that,” said Zekelman.

“So, they think about it in advance, designed with Canadian goods to do it, and probably save some money and support the communities that the very tax dollars are going to pay for that.”
