The Windsor-Detroit Tunnel will close for a few hours this Sunday for its annual emergency response exercise.
The tunnel shuts down twice a year, for the Detroit Free Press Marathon and for emergency training.
Officials say this year’s drill will involve Windsor fire, EMS and police, along with officers in Detroit, U.S. Customs and Homeland Security.
The goal is to prepare for potential emergencies and strengthen cross-border coordination.
Tunnel officials say the partnership between Windsor and Detroit remains strong, regardless of political climate.
The tunnel will close at 7 a.m. Sunday and is expected to reopen before 10 a.m.
That means the only way to cross during that time will be the Ambassador Bridge.
