Stolen pickup truck recovered, driver facing drug charges

A 51-year-old Windsor man has been charged with multiple offences after Essex County OPP located a stolen pickup truck.

Patrol officers saw a stolen pickup truck at Lutsch Street and Talbot Street East in Leamington on Thursday at 2:51 a.m.

The Essex County Community Street Crime Unit along with officers from Leamington, Kingsville and Essex OPP located the vehicle and stopped it and took the driver in custody without incident.

Officers subsequently located suspected Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Oxycodone. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at approximately $11,845.

As a result of the investigation, the Windsor man has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking-Methamphetamine

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl (two counts)

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 3, 2025.
