Gun charges laid in fatal pedestrian collision

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with several gun-related charges after a fatal collision Saturday evening.

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, Windsor police were called to the 4700 block of Tecumseh Road East for a vehicle collision.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw a rental moving truck and said it drove onto the sidewalk, hit a pedestrian, crashing into Windsor Trim Supplier.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

When officers searched the rental truck, they seized a loaded firearm.

The driver is now facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Possession of a firearm with no license
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a prohibited device
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Careless storage of a firearm

The investigation is ongoing. The WPS anticipates more charges will be laid.
