Bird Canada e-scooter and e-bike rentals are back in Windsor beginning this weekend.
The services came to the city in May 2021. Bird Canada said Windsor is a “green city that fits perfectly with Bird Canada’s mission.” The city contains more than 215 parks across 2,800 acres of green space.
Last year, more than 83,000 rides were taken by Windsorites and visitors, up from 69,000 in 2023.
Renting an e-scooter or e-bike costs just $1.15 to unlock it and $0.42 per minute for use. The Bird Canada app is required.
Low-income residents, seniors, veterans, and employees of community-based and non-profit organizations will receive a 50 per cent discount. In order to get this discount, you have to contact Bird Canada and send proof of eligibility.
Riders have to be 16 years old and up. For riders under 18, helmets are required. While the scooters and bikes are allowed on Riverfront Trail, they are not allowed on sidewalks and other park trails. They can also only be used on roads with a 50 km/h speed limit or less.
Parking is not allowed on sidewalks, blocking a sidewalk, parking space, driveway, roadway, or curb, or traffic signal, within 0.5 metres of trees or a bus stop zone, within 10 metres of a bus stop sign, or within three metres of street benches.
