The Alberni Valley Rescue Squad responded to several calls in backcountry and hard-to-access areas over the past week. During one incident, crews were called to the Fossli Park area after a person sustained a leg injury. Responders reached the scene using a side-by-side off-road vehicle and transported the person out safely. She was then transferred to BC Emergency Health Services, the rescue team said in a social media post. On Saturday night, the squad assisted a stranded motorist on back roads that were inaccessible to other emergency responders. Crews reached the person and they were safely removed from the area. The Alberni Valley Rescue Squad says it remains ready to respond day or night as warmer weather arrives and the summer season approaches.
