Snow Day? Here’s a list of school closures within the Lower Mainland Monday

Overnight flurries caused the closure of some school districts Monday, Feb. 3. (CTV Vancouver Island)

Snowy conditions throughout the Lower Mainland have led to a number of school cancellations Monday morning, following a fresh flurries overnight on Sunday.

Students and parents are advised to follow updates on their school district’s website as the morning progresses.

The following districts announced closures due to the weather for Monday:

  • Abbotsford School District
  • Langley School District
  • Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows School District
  • Mission Public Schools

All schools in the North Vancouver School District are open, unless the school has a scheduled Pro-D day.

BCIT has closed all its campuses and cancelled all in-person classes and exams.

“If your class or work is available online, this closure does not impact you. Please log in remotely in accordance with your usual schedule,” BCIT said in a release Monday morning.

Capilano University’s North Vancouver main campus and Sunshine Coast campus will be closed, while the Lonsdale and Squamish campuses remain open. Faculty will advise students of alternate plans for classes, it said.

KPU Langley and Cloverdale (Tech) campuses are closed until noon, all other campuses are open.

UBC will cancel in-person learning activities on the Vancouver campus for Monday. Classes may move online, and students are advised to look out for communication from instructors.

“Necessary services will be maintained,” UBC said in a statement Monday.

All University of Fraser Valley campuses and buildings will be closed today, with in-person classes cancelled.

“Instructors will contact you regarding the delivery of scheduled course material,” the university said Monday.
