CTV BC: Franco, Rogen movie shot in Vancouver The grounds of Robson Square have been transformed into the streets of North Korea for the latest Seth Rogen and James Franco movie.

Vancouver’s Robson Square is looking more like the streets of North Korea thanks to the latest Seth Rogen and James Franco movie.

The long-time friends and actors are teaming up for “The Interview,” a comedy about a talk-show host and his producer who become embroiled in a plot to assassinate the leader of the communist country.

The giant statue of Kim-Jong Il had passersby stopping and staring all morning while Franco and Rogen could be seen filming scenes in the distance.

The project marks a return to Vancouver for Rogen, who was born here in 1982.

He got his start in show business by landing a small part in the short-lived television show Freaks and Geeks, while still living in the B.C. city.
