‘Major delays’: 4-vehicle crash snarls traffic on Hwy. 1

A serious crash snarled traffic for commuters on Highway 1 through Surrey and Langley Thursday morning.

According to BC Highway Patrol, the four-vehicle collision happened around 6:20 a.m. near 200th Street.

Police said two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

Images from the scene show one of the vehicles involved, a box truck, flipped over the median near 192 Street.

“Road users should expect major delays in the area until all the evidence has been gathered and the roadway is safe for travel. Please be alert and obey the direction of police and traffic control personnel at the scene,” BCHP wrote in a statement around 9 a.m.

Google maps showed eastbound traffic in the solid red between Pacific Highway and 200 Street.

As of 9:15 a.m., the left lane and HOV lane of Highway 1 at 192 Street remained closed.
