A man was assaulted with a weapon in a Surrey park Saturday evening, according to authorities.

Officers were called to a business near King George SkyTrain Station around 6 45 p.m. where they learned the victim had been attacked in nearby Holland Park, the Surrey Police Service said in a news release Saturday night.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and then transported to hospital with what police describe as minor injuries.

On Sunday morning, a spokesperson for the SPS said police have not recovered the weapon, but confirmed it was an “edged weapon” of some sort. Police also said they do not believe the attack is random.

The suspect is described as a Black man in his 30s with a slim build who is clean shaven and was wearing a dark-coloured pants and hoodie.
