A snowboarder who went missing at Cypress Mountain Resort in West Vancouver Friday has been found dead, say police.

The 21-year-old was found in the gully next to the popular ski and snowboarding resort’s Collins Run, a two-kilometre green trail, after an “extensive search” by North Shore Rescue and the resort’s ski patrol services, said the West Vancouver Police Department in a statement Monday.

The snowboarder, from Richmond, had been hitting the slopes with friends and was last seen on one of the resort’s runs, before he was reported missing around 10:44 a.m. Friday, said police.

“Life-saving actions were taken immediately but were not successful” said Sgt. Chris Bigland.
