Toronto soccer fans have another chance to buy World Cup tickets

FIFA has announced that it’s releasing a new block of last-minute tickets for all World Cup matches, including six set to take place in Toronto.

Starting on April 22 at 11 a.m. ET, additional tickets will be released on a first-come, first-served basis for all 104 matches.

In a release, FIFA said last-minute ticket releases will continue until the end of the World Cup.

A range of tickets will be made available across categories, FIFA said.

FIFA said that fans looking to buy tickets should expect queues online but once they access the ticket sales portion of the website, they will be able to see what matches and categories are available, choose specific seats and pay. Once they’ve made their purchase, a confirmation email will be sent.

Currently, the only Canadian matches available for purchase on FIFA‘s official ticketing site are Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana vs. Panama and Panama vs. Croatia.

However, there are only more expensive Category 1 and Category 2 tickets listed for those matches, with the cheapest seats starting at $1575 for Ghana vs. Panama and $2,300 for Canada’s opener.

On one resale site, the cheapest tickets available started at $424 for the Senegal vs. Iraq match, while tickets for Canada vs. Bosnia were going for $1,278.

The World Cup runs between June 11-July 19.

Vancouver will host seven matches, including five group-stage games, while Toronto is set to stage six.

So far, FIFA has said more than five million tickets have already been sold for the expanded 48-team tournament, which is set to be the largest in World Cup history.
