CTV Toronto: Brampton drug bust Several houses in Brampton were evacuated following the discovery of a meth lab.

Multiple people have been arrested after police discovered a “sophisticated” meth lab in the basement of a home in Brampton.

The Ontario Provincial Police, Halton Police and Peel Police are currently at Midsummer Drive, in the McVean Drive and Ebenezer Road area, assisting in dismantling the drug lab.

According to police, the investigation leads back to Sept. when police received a call from a Halton Hills resident claiming garbage was dumped onto their property.

“It was quite a significant amount of waste,” said Drug, Gun and Gang Unit Staff Sgt. Brad Murray.

Police investigated the waste and found “the precursors that are involved in a crystal meth lab.”

“We did quite an extensive search on the waste that was discarded and as a result it led us to several individuals who were persons of interests,” Staff Sgt. Murray said.

Murray says that further investigation led them to the location on Midsummer Drive in Brampton.

Police say when they arrived at the home one suspect ran out the back entrance but was arrested. Two other people were arrested at this address.

Police say they also arrested two other people from Vaughan and Toronto.

Staff Sgt. Murray says they located 5 -6 kilograms of crystal meth and a sophisticated meth lab.

He says that police will be at the home for 24-36 hours while they dismantle the lab.
