A winter storm has dumped more than 20 cm of snowfall on the GTA overnight, prompting school boards around the region to shut down schools and affiliated daycares on Thursday morning.
Here is a list of school bus cancellations and school closures for Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025:
Toronto
The Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board have closed schools for the day due to the winter storm.
Peel Region
The Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel District School Board say schools and offices are closed today due to winter weather conditions.
Halton Region
All schools in the Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board are closed today to staff and students due to the snowstorm.
York Region
Schools in the York Region District School Board and the York Catholic District School Board are closed today.
Durham Region
All elementary and secondary schools within both the Durham District School Board and the Durham Catholic District School Board are closed today.
Hamilton
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton- Wentworth Catholic District School Board have closed all schools today.
Simcoe County
All schools across Simcoe County are closed due to the inclement weather.
Niagara Region
The District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board have cancelled buses this morning but schools remain open. The Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority has cancelled classes.
MonAvenir
Schools in the Toronto Region, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Norfolk, Brantford, Halton, Hamilton, Peel, Peterborough, York Region, Simcoe-Muskoka, and Durham Region are closed. Schools in Niagara Region remain open.
Viamonde
Schools are closed in Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Orangeville, Halton, York, Peel, and Hamilton.
Upper Canada College
The school will be closed today to students and staff today.
Universities and Colleges
-Humber Polytechnic says classes and services will move to remote only when possible as all campuses are closed.
-Georgian College says the downtown Barrie (Ross Street), Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia and South Georgian Bay campus locations are closed today.
-Sheridan College says all of its campuses are closed today.
-Toronto Metropolitan University says its downtown campus is open today.
-The University of Toronto says while its downtown campus remains open, its Mississauga campus is closed today and morning classes are cancelled at the Scarborough campus.
-York University remains open but the university says it will “continue to monitor the weather.”
-Seneca Polytechnic says in-person classes will be held online, where possible. The campus remains open.
