It gives you a close shave and smooth skin, and it’s more sustainable than your average disposables.
I’ve been working on perfecting my hair removal routine for over 20 years now, and I’ve tried it all — including, but not limited to waxing, epilators, sugaring, hair removal creams, and disposable razors. While I like the longevity that waxing and sugaring gives, I don’t have the patience to grow my body hair out during the spring and summer. I find some epilators to be painful and leave hairs behind, and let’s be honest with ourselves, creams are messy and often smell bad. This leaves me with my tried and true method of hair removal: shaving.
I’ve got my routine down, which includes using shave oils and exfoliators to extend the results of my shave longer than a day, but the disposable razors I had been using just weren’t cutting it anymore (pun intended). Despite shaving my legs for over two decades, sometimes I nicked myself in those hard-to-shave areas or found that the razors were becoming dull fast.
That’s what brought me to the Billie Razor Kit. I had seen ads for the brand and decided to give it a try based purely on the price and really liking how it looked. I am so pleased with the results, and it has become my go-to.
Billie Razor Kit (This link opens in a new tab)
The Billie Razor combines the convenience of a disposable razor with features and results that feel much more luxurious. The kit comes with one non-slip ergonomic razor handle, two 5-blade razor refills, and a magnetic mount to hang it up between showers. It’s easy to use, comfortable to hold, and made for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. Once you’re out of razor heads refills are a breeze to stock up on in packs of either four or 12.
The first time I used The Billie Razor Kit I really wanted to put it to the test, so I grew my leg hair out to see what it could get through. To my surprise, it grazed my skin like butter, no cuts and no hair left behind, just slick, smooth skin once I was done. That’s thanks to the aloe shave soap that surrounds the five blades in the razor head. You technically don’t need to use shaving cream or oil with it, but I like to for some extra moisture. The handle is incredibly lightweight and comfortable to hold, unlike the sustainable, but sometimes dangerous safety razor system I tried a few years ago. The underside has a grip to keep it from slipping out of your hands, and the razor head sits on a hinge that moves with the curves of your body to keep it perfectly flush with your skin from your ankles to your armpits.
There’s an itty bitty magnet in the handle of the Billie Razor that sticks it to the magnetic mount it comes with. I love that I can hang it there between showers instead of resting it on the ledge, meaning that aloe shave soap doesn’t get sticky or completely dissolve in a puddle. It comes in a handful of cute styles, including colour-blocked designs, transparent glitter, and even a glow-in-the-dark option.
Depending on how often you like to shave, the razor heads last between seven and 10 days. The Billie Razor refills are so easy to grab and at around $10 for four, they’re more affordable, and last me longer than the Venus Sensitive Disposable Razors I was using. Bonus: because you can take the whole razor apart, they can be brought on your carry-on when you travel.
I find that because I am able to get such a close shave, I stay hair-free for at least two days longer than I would with my old razors. I also find that the Billie Razor Kit produces less waste for me than a regular disposable razor would. A handle lasts me about a year before it starts looking worse for wear, but if I feel like refreshing my system, I like to set the old one aside to use for travel, which keeps it from ending up in a landfill before it needs to.
Want to know what other reviewers are saying?
With the vast majority of shoppers giving the Billie Razor Kit a 5-star rating, they’re loving it for the exact same reasons I do. A lot of them say they love how close of a shave they get and how smooth their skin feels. It doesn’t irritate their skin and they say that they’re not accidentally cutting themselves, even using it for the first time. They also like that it comes in cute colours and say the included mount looks great in their showers while also keeping the razor dry between uses.
