DETROIT -- A panel of Great Lakes experts is scheduled to convene on the Canadian side of the Detroit-Windsor border.
The Wednesday evening event at the University of Windsor gathers environmental and water officials from Michigan and Ontario.
The panel includes Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge Manager John Hartig and University of Windsor Great Lakes researcher Doug Haffner.
Organizers say the panel is intended to gather people working on pressing problems such as invasive species, contaminants and algae blooms.
The event is open to the public and kicks off with a talk by Canadian singer-activist Sarah Harmer.
She founded a conservation group called Protecting Escarpment Rural Land, which was started to fight a proposed quarry on the Niagara Escarpment in Burlington, Ontario.
