Five Saskatoon youths are facing charges after police say they assaulted a 16-year-old boy and took him captive early Saturday morning.
Patrol officers were called to an assault in progress in the 100 block of Avenue M South just after 2 a.m. on April 19, Saskatoon police said in a news release. Officers were told a teen had been physically assaulted in the street and then dragged into a nearby home.
When they arrived, police said the officers heard a person in distress. They entered the home and found the victim, a 16-year-old boy.
The victim was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious, but not life-threatening.
Three boys and two girls are facing charges related to the assault. Police have not provided their ages.
