Mountie with northern Saskatchewan detachment suspended after charges laid

STONY RAPIDS, Sask. - An RCMP officer in northern Saskatchewan has been charged with assault.

RCMP say the assault allegedly happened on Friday at a home in Black Lake.

The officer was suspended from duty on Saturday and an RCMP code of conduct investigation was ordered.

Const. Brendin Feere is also charged with forcible confinement and overcoming resistance to commit an offence.

Feere, who is with the Stony Rapids detachment, has less than two years of service with the RCMP.

He will make his first court appearance in Black Lake provincial court on Sept. 19.
