Two 17-year-olds have been charged after Regina police located a stolen vehicle shortly after midnight on Monday.

According to a Regina police news release, officers spotted the stolen truck turning onto the 400 block of Montreal Street. When police turned the corner to approach the vehicle, it was parked and three suspects were fleeing the scene.

A police dog was used to locate the suspects, and a 17-year-old girl was found hiding in bushes nearby before being taken inti custody.

Regina police say she was bitten by the police dog and taken to hospital for treatment before being released.

Police said due to the severity of the girl’s injury from the bite, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) was notified.

“Following that notification, the matter remains under investigation by RPS, and is being monitored by SIRT. As such, RPS will not be providing further comment on the matter,” Regina police said in the release.

A 17-year-old boy was also arrested along with a 30-year-old woman who was later released and not charged, police said.

The two teenagers were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said the boy was also charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

The teenage boy made his first court appearance on Monday and the girl will make her first court appearance on April 10, according to Regina police.
