Regina residents show support for Canada’s Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis

People in Regina showed their support for the Crohn’s and Colitis Canada non-profit through a local Gutsy Walk.

On Sunday, close to one hundred people walked at A.E. Wilson Park with the goal of raising up to $60,000 for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis research.

The initiative also aims to spread awareness about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis – the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

“There’s so many people that are diagnosed and newly diagnosed [who] need a community to reach out to,” said Tara Stenhouse, Regina chapter volunteer with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.

“I have Crohn’s. My children, Max and Addie, both have Crohn’s as well. There [are] only so many medications that are out there for pediatric Crohn’s and colitis. The more awareness and money we raise will help the research.”

The fundraiser is usually a five-kilometre walk. However, with construction this year, people walked about 2.6 kilometres instead.

People can donate to the cause at Regina - Gutsy Walk 2026.

There are also ways people can show support for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada year-round, Stenhouse said.

“Visit Crohn’s and Colitis Canada website. You can always find a walk near you if you’re not here in Regina. We also have one in Saskatoon and all across Canada,” she said.

“You can donate, volunteer, even if you don’t have Crohn’s and colitis it’s a great organization to be involved with.”

This year marks 30 years since the start of Canada’s Gutsy Walk.
