While the federal election is set for April 28, those wishing to cast their ballot early can do so beginning on Friday.

Advance polls in Regina will be open from Friday until Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day at different locations around the city.

There are three ridings in Regina, all with incumbent Conservatives running again for their seats.

Regina-Lewvan covers a portion of the City of Regina, and areas north and south of the Trans-Canada Highway.

Regina Qu’Appelle covers parts of the City of Regina, rural municipalities surrounding the city, and several First Nations communities and villages.

Regina-Wascana covers a portion of the city’s south side and areas east of downtown.

Eligible voters should have received their information card in the mail which shows the riding and polling station they will vote at. Voters can also search their postal code online for that information.

To be able to cast a ballot, voters will need to be at least 18 years old and be a Canadian citizen. Voters will first need to make sure they are registered here and can also update the address on their voter registration if needed.

Before heading to a polling station, voters will make sure they bring a piece of ID, such as a driver’s licence or any card issued by a Canadian government with their photo, name, and current address on it, along with their voter information card.

If voters don’t have a driver’s licence, they also have the option to show two pieces of ID, both with their name, and at least one with a current address. According to Elections Canada, people can still vote if they don’t have ID, as long as they declare their identity and address in writing and have someone assigned to the same polling station vouch for them.

If voters choose to cast their ballot on April 28, the same requirements from advance polls apply. Voters should make sure to double check the location for their polling station on election day, as it may be different than what was offered in advance polls.
