Brockville, Ont. woman facing weapon charge over thrown pot

Police in Brockville, Ont. have laid a weapon charge against a 49-year-old woman following a reported assault on Thursday.

A 9-1-1 call was made at around 9:15 p.m. regarding a disturbance on Reynolds Drive. Police say the woman and her boyfriend were in an argument.

The man had an injury on his forehead, and it was alleged that the woman had thrown a pot at him earlier in the day. He was treated at the Brockville General Hospital.

The couple’s argument continued in the evening, and then police were called.

The woman, who was not named in a news release, is charged with assault with a weapon.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, a weapon is defined as “any thing used, designed to be used or intended for use, in causing death or injury to any person, or for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person.”

The woman has been released with conditions and will appear in court at an unspecified date.
