A tow truck driver is facing a total of 13 charges after being stopped for safety equipment violations Friday night on Highway 417 in the east end of Ottawa, according to the Ontario provincial Police (OPP).
The truck was stopped when a police officer noticed that its flashing hazard lights were not fully functional and it was missing a rear plate on the highway, the OPP told CTV News Ottawa in a statement.
When the driver was stopped, police found that that the company the tow truck operates for is from Quebec. Officers also found that the driver did not have a licence to operate in Ontario.
Police add that the driver failed to “provide proof of insurance and had not completed their pre trip inspection.”
That was when the driver received the 13 charges, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
