An Ottawa driver is facing $1,500 in fines after a “litany of issues” were discovered on a vehicle, including being overweight and having an oversized plow.
The Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says officers stopped a pickup truck with a snowplow attached to the front on an Ottawa road on Sunday.
“Certified Commercial Vehicle inspections are part of OPS Traffic Escort officers’ expertise; put to good use yesterday for a commercial truck with a litany of issues relating to road-worthiness and posing a potential risk to other road users,” police said on X.
The driver is facing several charges, including no annual inspection, plow permit and pre-trip inspection, having an oversized plow, obstructed plate, uncovered load and being overweight by 2,701 kg.
Police say the vehicle was taken out of service for exceeding the weight on all tires.
