An Ottawa driver will spend the Easter weekend without their vehicle after being stopped speeding 72 km/h over the speed limit in the city’s east end.
The Ottawa Police Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says an officer observed a driver going 132 km/h on Farmers Way on Thursday.
The speed limit is 60 km/h.
The driver was charged with stunt driving.

Highway 7
A driver is facing a charge of stunt driving after being observed going 63 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 7 north of Kingston.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer spotted a driver going 143 km/h on Highway 7 in the Sharbot Lake area at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday.
“The radar unit captured the speed of the vehicle at 143 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone,” the OPP said on X.
A 22-year-old driver from Nepean is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
An officer from the Sharbot Lake OPP was on patrol for traffic enforcement initiatives and located a vehicle traveling along Hwy 7 at an excessive speed.
