Ottawa could see up to 8 cm of snow tonight and Wednesday

Another winter weather travel advisory is in effect for Ottawa with snowfall Tuesday night into Wednesday morning causing reduced visibility.

“Snow will quickly move into the area from the northwest this evening then continue tonight as an Alberta clipper low moves through. Snow will taper to flurries by midday Wednesday,” the weather alert says.

This follows a windy, snowy day on Monday.

Environment Canada reported wind gusts up to 44 km/h at 6 a.m. Gusts of 78 km/h were reported at the Ottawa Airport at 3 p.m. Monday.

Hydro Ottawa reported a few power outages on Monday afternoon as the strong winds gusted through the region, but no outages were reported Tuesday.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for total snowfall amounts of 4 to 8 cm by Wednesday.

Ottawa will see a mix of sun and cloud on Tuesday. Temperature steady near -12 C, with the wind chill making it feel like -16 this afternoon.

Flurries continuing Wednesday. Ottawa could see 2 to 4 cm of snow, according to Environment Canada. High -7 C.

The outlook for Thursday calls for sunshine. High -7 C.

Friday will see a mix of sun and clouds with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. High -6 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -15 C.
