Family-friendly outdoor activities is what Snow Day, an event hosted by Dominion City Brewing is all about. Josh McJannett joins us to give us all the details.

Dominion City Brewing in Ottawa is taking part in a trans-national project to launch a new beer made from 100 per cent Canadian ingredients.

Called “Glorious and Free”, the beer is a collaboration between breweries from across Canada, using locally grown ingredients.

“Glorious and Free is an invitation for everyone to support local breweries and growers. It’s about bringing all of us together, to take action for our local communities and strengthen Canada at a crucial moment in our history,” a post on Dominion City Brewing’s website says.

Co-founder Josh McJannett told CTV Morning Live the Dominion City version uses ingredients from our region.

“We’re working with Canadian growers who are growing your beer, and then we’re actually all going to be contributing a portion of the proceeds to different causes that strengthen Canada,” he said.

The IPA is brewed with pilsner malt from Mississippi Mills, Ont., Canadian flaked oats, and hops from Houblonnière Lupuline Hop Yard in Chapeau, Que., about 160 kilometres northwest of Gatineau. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Writers’ Trust of Canada.

“That’s really the whole vision. It’s a dark moment and small, local breweries can be a small light in a dark room,” McJannett said.
