Man hospitalized after being shot in Vanier, police looking for witnesses

The Ottawa Police Service is asking witnesses who might have information about a shooting incident that happened Thursday afternoon in Vanier to come forward.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service said Thursday a man was taken to hospital following the shooting.

Paramedics responded to an area of Richelieu Avenue near Lacasse Avenue on reports of a shooting at 3:20 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to paramedics.

Following the incident, police asked the public to avoid Lacasse Avenue between Montreal Road and McArthur Avenue.

A significant police operation took place in the area of Lacasse Avenue and Blake Boulevard.
