Friday is Valentine’s Day and a content creator has a list of fun activities that you can do to celebrate all things love in Ottawa.

“There are many things that you can do other than going to a restaurant, which is the classic date idea,” founder of Places to Go Ottawa, Sissi De Flavis, told CTV Morning Live Wednesday.

Indoor skating

She says going to Skate and Play is a “cool idea,” citing the neon and party lights that you can enjoy.

“It’s a bit of a retro kind of day idea,” she said.

Skates are available for you to rent at the area if you don’t have your own, De Flavis says.

The activity is suitable for both families and couples. It’s open for families before 9 p.m. and for couples after 9 p.m.

Skate and Play is located at 1101 Baxter Rd.

Outdoor skating for beginners and professionals

De Flavis says the capital is also a good city for outdoor activities, pointing out the Rideau Canal Skateway that’s been fully opened this year. She says the activity is highly recommended for good skaters.

If you’re not a good skater, don’t worry, there are easier skateways with beautiful nature and trees for you to enjoy, she adds.

“For that we can do Ice and Trails in Stittsville. There’s also the Little Penguin in Gatineau,” she said.

“It’s so beautiful and romantic.”

Ottawa’s Ultimate Sing-Along Galentine’s Brunch

De Flavis has organized an event for those who are dealing with heartbreak this year. The event is called Ottawa’s Ultimate Sing-Along Galentine’s Brunch. Women above the age of 19 are going to sing songs related to heartbreak, to cope and heal during the event.

“It’s just a different space to have fun,” De Flavis added, noting that it’s meant to empower women.

It is taking place Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Back to Brooklyn Restaurant, which is located at 81 Clarence Street.
