Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are thanking a good Samaritan for returning a wallet with almost $1,800 cash, instead of rewarding himself with some money heading into the long weekend.

Police shared a photo on social media of a wallet with cash that was returned to the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment.

“Members of the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment want to send a BIG thank you to the kind citizen who located a wallet with almost $1,800 inside,” the OPP said, adding the wallet was found at a local gas station.

“Instead of rewarding himself with the contents, he attended the detachment to ensure it is returned to the owner.”

The wallet contained several $5, $20 and $100 bills.

Police say an officer was able to return the wallet to its owner.
