Police say they received a report of a statue being stolen from Horticultural Society Park on Oct. 31.

The statue was approximately 4 feet tall and was a tribute to local artist Gaye "Noel" Bullock. It was valued at approximately $10,000, police say.

An investigation found that the statue had been cut into pieces and sold for scraps at a value of $126.

Police arrested a 52-year-old and a 61-year-old, both from Gananoque, on Dec. 3. They were charged with theft over $5,000 and possession property obtained by crime over $5,000.

There were released on an undertaking with conditions.

Gananoque is located approximately 30 kilometres east of Kingston.
