CAMPBELLFORD, Ont. -- Police say a man has been charged with distracted driving after a Jeep ended up in the Trent River in Campbellford, Ont.
Provincial police say local firefighters directed officers to the submerged vehicle, and the uninjured driver, who had already made his way to shore.
No other vehicles were involved, but investigators say another motorist had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by the Jeep in Wednesday's incident.
A 36-year-old Campbellford-area man, whose name wasn't released, is charged with driving a motor vehicle while using a hand-held wireless communication device.
