Chapters Indigo is closing the books on its location at Place d’Orléans.

After more than 40 years of operations at the mall in Ottawa’s east end, the Indigospirit Place d’Orléans will close permanently on Feb. 1.

“As part of our normal business practices, we regularly review and optimize our real estate portfolio,” Indigo said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa.

“We consider many factors when we make these decisions, including store profitability. We are working closely with all employees to ensure they are fully supported through this transition.”

Indigo points out there are other locations In Ottawa’s east end including Indigo Innes and Chapters Gloucester.

According to the Indigo website, there are 10 Indigo, Coles and Indigospirit locations in Ottawa.

“We have no details to share on other store closures at this time,” Indigo said.

“Indigo remains in growth mode, however, and we are actively looking for net new sites where we are underrepresented, and to right-size in markets where we may currently be too small. We look forward to sharing more information on these stores when it becomes available.”
