2 dead following fire in Ottawa Valley

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fire that left two people dead in Laurentian Valley Township.

OPP and firefighters were called to Morrison Road, near Golf Course Road, at around 11 p.m. Thursday. Several people were safely evacuated from the home, one person was confirmed deceased and a second person was unaccounted for. In an update, police said the second person was located dead inside the structure.

The identities of the two victims have not been confirmed.

The investigation is still ongoing under the direction of the Upper Ottawa Valley Crime Unit, with assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Fire Marshal and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Police asked residents to avoid the area Friday.
