A vehicle fire in West Nipissing on Monday led police to a surprising discovery: a large array of items that had recently been reported stolen.
The property included ATVs, motorcycles, power tools, guns and generators.
The incident began just before 9 p.m. when Ontario Provincial Police responded to a vehicle fire on a property on Highway 539 in West Nipissing.
“While investigating the fire, police observed numerous recently stolen items on the property and arrested two people,” police said in a news release Friday.

Members from the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit executed two search warrants at properties on Highway 539 and Forget Avenue, West Nipissing.
“A search of the two properties led to the seizure of stolen off-road vehicles, motorcycles, various hand/power tools, generators, chainsaws, outboard motors, firearms, vehicle batteries, propane tanks and other outdoor items.”
A 37-year-old man from West Nipissing is charged with numerous theft and weapons offences and was scheduled to appear in bail court Friday in North Bay.
A 36-year-old woman from Simcoe is charged with theft offences and has an Oct. 5 court date in the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 5.
