A 15-year-old has died and another teen was seriously injured after a collision involving an e-bike and a pickup truck in Sault Ste. Marie early Sunday morning.

Police said the crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. on April 20 in the 800 block of Goulais Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the scene in response to 911 reports.

“Upon arrival, officers observed paramedics providing lifesaving efforts to two patients,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.

Both were taken to hospital, where one 15-year-old was pronounced dead. The other, also 15, sustained serious injuries.

Investigators determined an 18-year-old driving a pickup northbound on Goulais Avenue struck the teens’ southbound e-bike while attempting to turn left onto Third Line West.
