A 38-year-old man in northern Ontario apparently went stir-crazy Tuesday and fled house arrest, but was quickly caught because he was wearing an ankle bracelet.

A 38-year-old man in northern Ontario apparently went stir-crazy Tuesday and fled house arrest, but was quickly caught because he was wearing an ankle bracelet.

The incident took place around 12:50 p.m. at a residence on Alphonse Road in West Nipissing.

“An individual with a court-ordered tracking device on their ankle fled on foot from a residence,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Wednesday.

“With the assistance of the emergency response team and canine unit, the individual was later located and arrested.”

He was taken into custody and charged with failing to comply with a release order and a probation order. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday in North Bay.
