Highway 17 reopens between Wawa and Batchewana Bay after a weather-related closure

Highway 17 has reopened between Wawa and Batchewana Bay after being closed for several hours on Monday.

Ontario Provinicial Police advised the roadway had reopned on X.

Deteriorating weather conditions have closed a section of Highway 17, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a social media post.

The roadway is closed between Pinewood Drive in Wawa and Batchewana Bay.

“Road closure: Closed due to weather conditions,” said police on X.

Driving on a closed highway is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.

The OPP advises motorists to avoid any unnecessary travel as driving conditions are deteriorating.

“See snow go slow,” police said.
