$47K in fentanyl, cocaine seized in Kirkland Lake drug bust

Two people have been charged and more than $47,000 in narcotics seized following a drug bust in Kirkland Lake over the weekend, police say.

A 36-year-old from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and a 59-year-old from Kirkland Lake are charged with drug trafficking as a result, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.

Officers raided a home on Carter Avenue in the northern Ontario town near the Quebec border Dec. 17.

In addition to the fentanyl and cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia were also seized in the raid, police said.

The man from Etobicoke is also charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

Both of the accused are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court by video Dec. 21.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
