The body of a man was found on the steps of Place des Arts in downtown Montreal early Friday morning.
Investigators now consider this to be the 11th murder to occur in the territory in 2025
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 5:15 a.m. about the body, near Saint-Catherine Street and Saint-Urbain Street.
“The man was found unconscious on the steps leading to the Place des Arts esplanade,” said Manuel Couture, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “He had injuries to the lower body.”
According to police, at least one suspect stabbed the victim with a sharp object.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Couture said the motive for the murder remains unknown at this time.
A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to canvass the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
