The Quebec government is launching its spring COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the hopes of reducing complications, hospitalizations and deaths in vulnerable populations.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is free for all individuals aged six months and up.

“The number of doses and the intervals between doses depend on the age, vaccination history and medical condition of the individual,” the government notes.

For the spring campaign, vaccination is specifically recommended for:

  • People living in CHSLDs, RPAs and other group homes with a high number of elderly and vulnerable individuals,
  • People aged 60 years and older,
  • People between 65 and 74 years old who have never had a confirmed COVID-19 infection, who have a chronic disease or who live in a remote region of the province.

Government officials note that vaccination can prevent long-lasting symptoms of the disease, also known as “long COVID.”

People should wait six months after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, or following an infection, before receiving an additional dose.
