The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is having service delays yet again Wednesday morning due to a “technical problem.”
The network is affected in both directions.
Service was originally disrupted late Tuesday night to allow for a de-icing operation to clear the switches, which the REM has noted is not operating as it should in the cold.
Trains were supposed to resume running at 5:30 a.m., but the REM later took to X to report that the first train at Gare Centrale would be departing late, at 6 a.m. instead.

A technical issue has caused a slowdown in service on the network in both directions.
More messages will follow.
The REM has been plagued with issues all winter, with multiple shutdowns and slowdowns forcing commuters into shuttle buses as they try to get to their destinations.
“We all understand the frustration of the users of our network, which is not functioning at the expected level of service,” said Francis Labbé, REM media relations assistant director. “The switch problem experienced in recent days is well identified, and the appropriate solution will be implemented.”
Labbé adds that the REM will work with its partners to try to limit the impact on users.
“[Operators] Alstom and AtkinsRealis have agreed that these switches will be modified or replaced to ensure reliable and efficient service,” he said.
As of Thursday, dozens of extra shuttle buses will be added on standby from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. until the problem is fixed.
